If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

How much will this cost?
We have a studio fee of $7 per painter, per day. This covers the use of the paints, as well as glazing and firing. From there it’s your choice how much you would like to spend, with prices ranging from $15 up to $60.

Being creative/art/painting isn’t my thing, can I still do this?
This is the perfect activity for any skill level. Whether you are a beginner and it’s not your forte, to a seasoned pottery painter – Pears is the place for you.

When will my pottery be ready?
Please allow a 14 day turnaround for finished pieces. During peak periods (eg. school holidays), this turnaround may be longer but we will inform you on the day what the timeframe will be. Once your piece is ready for collection, you will receive an sms.

How will I know my pottery is ready?
As soon as your pottery is ready for collection, we will send an sms to the mobile number you provided us. If you haven’t received a text yet, your piece is not ready. However, if the timeframe we informed you of has passed, then please give us a call as we may have the wrong details.

When can I collect my pottery?
Our collection times are during our studio hours. Thursday to Monday, 10am to 2pm.

Why does it take so long?
Essentially, your piece goes through 2 drying stages. The first drying stage is after you’ve finished it, we pop it out the back to completely dry, this may take a few days. The second stage is after we have glazed it. Each piece needs to be completely dry prior to going into the kiln.
The drying process takes longer in the cooler months. Once in the kiln, it takes 30+ hours to heat up and cool down.

What happens if I can’t finish my piece in one sitting?
No problem at all! We have a TBC section, so you are welcome to come back another day to complete your piece. Just pay for your session and piece that day, and when you come to finish it off it’s just another $7.

Do I still have to pay the studio fee if I come back to finish a piece?
Yes. Our studio fee is per painter, per day. This covers the use of the paints again to complete your piece.

What age does this suit?
This style of pottery painting is suitable for all ages and abilities. For kids too young, or who finish quickly, we do have a play area with toys and books they can enjoy.

Do you have events that are child free?
Our Friday late night paints are specifically adults only.

Can I drop the kids off and come back to pick them up later?
We love having kids in the studio, but we ask that a parent remains with them if they are under the age of 12, or unable to complete the activity independently.

Do non painters need to book spot?
Yes, please do! Our studio seats 30 people, so if we are fully booked we do not have space to seat non painters.

Is your paint safe?
Yes, our underglaze paints are non toxic and easy to wash out of clothes. Once glazed and fired, your piece will be food safe.

Will we get our own table?
Depending on the bookings for the day and how the studio will be set up to accommodate everyone, you may get your own table or you may be sharing with other painters. If you have booked separately but are part of the same group, please let us know beforehand so we can place you on the same table.

Is your studio pram friendly?
Yes, it is.

Is your studio wheelchair friendly?
Inside our studio is wheelchair friendly. We do however have a small step up into the studio at the door, with the max height on one end being about 5cm due to the slope of the footpath.

Do you have parking?
There is free street parking available on Coogee St, as well as in the surrounding area.

Do you have toilets?
Yes, we do. Our toilets are located to the side of the building, a short distance from our door. Due to the thoroughfare width where the toilets are located, and a significant step, unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible.

Can I host an event at your studio?
Yes, definitely! Head to our Parties & Events page for more info!

How much will it cost to host an event at your studio?
For bookings with exclusive use of our studio, we have a minimum spend: $250 for a 2 hour event, $350 for 3 hours.

Can I BYO food & drink?
Yes, feel free to bring along something to eat while you paint. Or pop next door to grab a t/a coffee from our neighbours Humblebee Coffee. We recommend avoiding anything greasy otherwise there is a risk of transfer to your piece which may create an imperfection during the glazing and firing process. For events and late night paints, definitely! This also includes alcohol. Please note that we do not provide any cutlery or crockery, nor do we provide any catering. We do have 20 each of wine and champagne glasses, as well as have a small bar fridge. Please note that for non-exclusive events, a separate table for food & drink is not included and cannot be guaranteed if requested.

Can we bring decorations?
Yes, decorations for exclusive events are very much welcomed!
For non exclusive parties during our normal hours, please be considerate of others that will be in the studio at the same time.

Do you have gift vouchers?
Yes, we do! We offer eGift cards as well as handmade ceramic gift vouchers available to purchase at the studio in set amounts.

Do you do take home kits?
Yes we do! Come into the studio and choose the piece you would like in the kit, as well as up to 5 paint colours, and we will package it up for you along with instructions. Prices vary depending on the piece, additional paint colours can be purchased.

I want to get my child’s hand/foot prints done, can I do that here?
Yes, for sure! We are happy to assist with this and we have various pieces that work perfectly for prints. Bigger kid hands and feet are easy (1y+) but for the littlies, especially babies, we recommended that they are asleep.
Please note, that we do not offer any painting service. Once the prints have been done, it’s time to put your own personal touch to this precious piece.

Terms & Conditions

Ceramic is made from an organic material and occasionally some irregularities do surface during the firing process. This can result in a crack, chip or irregularity in the glaze.

We will offer a refund or voucher for any ceramic damaged or found faulty during firing. We don’t offer refunds for irregularities in glazing.

There may be minor colour variations on pieces according to how they have been painted. Minor imperfections are a result of the hand-painted nature of the pottery, and the natural state of the clay.

We hold no responsibility for items once collected. All pottery is fragile and may chip or break if misused. It is advised not to place pottery items in a microwave and we recommend hand wash only.

A studio fee $7 will be charged per painter, per day. This is irrespective of the number of items painted or the type of item. The studio fee covers the cost of the paints, glaze and firing of your ceramic. Ceramics are individually priced, starting from $15 for small items, through to $60 for larger pieces.

Any breakages will incur a breakage fee. Our breakage fee is dependent on the item(s).

Our cancellation policy for events is as follows: booking fees are refundable up until three (3) days prior to the booking. If a cancellation is made with less than three (3) days notice, monies paid will be forfeited.

Items that are not collected within 4 months of painting date will be kindly donated. We may send reminder messages occasionally. If you haven’t heard from us within 21 days of your painting date, please get in touch as we may have incorrect details.
